Funeral services for William Wallace "Wally" Mershon of Troy, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Steven Doan and Rev. Donna Doan, pastors of the Troy First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in New Galilee Cemetery near Troy. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Lee Mershon, Dennis Eugene Mershon, Curtis Dale Mershon, Keith Betts, Christopher Betts and Bryan Betts.
Mr. Mershon, 96, passed away late Monday evening, February 18, 2008 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy. Born March 19, 1911 in Moscow Mills, MO, he was the son of Charles Edward and Annie Louise Schroeder Mershon. He was united in marriage on February 9, 1935 in Moscow Mills to Hazel Rudean Parsons. This union was blessed with three children: Edward Eugene, Donald Harris and Ronnie Lee. He was a union carpenter for over 63 years and served as a construction superintendent. He was a 55 year member and past president of the Carpenters Local #1875 in Winfield. After retiring from construction he owned Mershon Woodworking and Cabinet Shop near Troy. He was a member of the Troy First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie Mershon; four brothers: Delmar Mershon, Charles Mershon, Philmore Mershon and Robert Mershon; and two sisters: Mabel Lester and Georgia Kumbera.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 73 years, Hazel Mershon of Troy; three sons: Edward Mershon and his wife, Patsy, of Troy, Donald Mershon and his wife, Twila, of McCleary, WA, and Ronnie Mershon and his wife, Terri, of Troy; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
